Determination of adulteration in suspected foreign liquors by turbidity and total dissolve solids measurements

The liquors were found to be adulterated with impure water from different sources. The measurement of pH, chloride concentration, total dissolved solid, total suspended solid and heavy metals reveals the adulteration in liquors. The duplicate brands contain rectified spirit, caramel, coloring agents, flavoring agents and essential oils which are not according to specifications. The adulterated liquors were detected by the measurement of total dissolve solids and total suspended solids using TDS and turbidity meter. The approach provide useful simple tool for identification of adulterants in liquor. © 2013 Universal Research Publications. All rights reserved
